Lake McGregor Provincial Recreation Area

Located on the northwest tip of Lake McGregor, this provincial recreation area consists of a large, but somewhat rustic campground and a boat launch.  The lake is popular with Calgarians who can reach the site in an hour’s drive.  Water skiing, fishing, swimming and wind or kite surfing are popular activities at this reservoir.  With little to no light pollution in the area, the night skies are filled with stars.

The campground runs primarily north/south and rows of tall bushes provide a break from winds.  Fortunately for campers, winds are at their lowest levels during the months of July and August.  This site is conducive to a slow pace of life, with little road traffic despite there being 100 camp sites available.
