Kinbrook Island Provincial Park
If you love sailing, bird watching, lazing on the beach, swimming or fishing, then Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is a must. Rich in wetlands, trees and shrubs, this area boasts over 200 species of birds that either make their home in the park or use it as a stopover on their migration. An interpretive marsh trail will get you close to water-loving bird species such as pelicans, grebes, terns, cormorants, herons and gulls, and a stroll through the grounds will reveal sights and sounds of birds you haven’t seen before.
This park on Lake Newell, a large reservoir in the Eastern Irrigation District, has been a favourite for generations. The large sandy beach stretches into the lake and back onto a pleasant grassed and treed picnic area. Close by is the marina, where sailboats, motorized boats, and wind surfers take flight. Many of the 169 campsites are spacious with mature trees around them. Large group areas and individual campsites can be reserved.
