Crawling Valley
Surrounded by a wide expanse of open native prairie near Bassano, Alberta, the Crawling Valley recreation site is a fisherman’s delight. The constructed harbour and boat launch make access to the water easy. Pike up to 20 pounds have tested the skills of many a fisherman, and a walleye fishery is now well established. The reservoir is a popular spot for ice fishing in the winter as well, with an annual derby in March.
If a place to shower makes or breaks your decision to come to a campsite, then you can add this one to your “must stay” list. Spacious campsites are usually occupied by 5th Wheels or motor homes, but tents also dot the campgrounds. A playground with some novel “large pipe” play area gives kids a chance to do what they do best – have fun. A family bike ride along the various roadways is a relaxing way to make fond family memories. For a first time visit, follow the signs and you will eventually get to this oasis in what seems to be an empty landscape.
